002 Bushels ❦ [Video/Action]

[Hello, people of Johto. Today you’re in for a treat. The journal feed opens rather abruptly, as the force of a flying Magikarp shakes the screen. A frustrated southern belle sits patiently at the shoreline, an old rod in her hand.]

Alright, y’all. What’s with all these here Magikarp? I’ve been fishin’ here all day, and the only thing nibblin’ are these useless bottom-feeders.

[She taps her chin a couple times.] Maybe if I catch one, it’ll scare the rest of ‘em away, ‘r somethin’.

[She digs though her bag, shuffling her way through the disarray inside, eventually retrieving a pokeball. Aiming at the fish that hit her pokegear, she boredly tosses the ball. It shakes a couple times, before clicking shut. Applejack bends over and picks up the ball, presenting it to the camera and speaking quickly:] Alright, y’all, listen up. This here’s Rainbow Dash. Empty headed son… [She mumbles to herself, plopping the unfortunate fish into her bag before retrieving her rod.]

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go catch me somethin’ worth seein’!

[She has no idea what she’s getting herself into.]

Oh, Magikarp? They only grow up to be completely awesome... [Ritz is kneeing her Epic Knifebird Mount out of the shot and throwing a pokeball; suddenly, the streets of Goldenrod have Andre the Gyarados staring down at the gear.]

I wouldn't count on scaring them off. I'm not sure they actually understand things like consequences. Or fear. Or going back into water instead of flopping around on land.

[Harry briefly had a Magikarp the last time he came to Johto. He's not sure the fish ever quite understood that it was no longer in the ocean.]

I think the entire species might be in-bred or something.

You've probably already heard by now, but those guys actually get to be pretty tough when they level up enough, but... I think you start catching other water types the more you travel, if it helps.

The fishing rods you can get in Cherrygrove are just below standard quality. A better rod would probably help.

Hah! If you really want a better fish...

*DRAMATIC PAUSE FOR EFFECT*

... dive in there and wrestle it out!

[Fish? ... FISH OH GODS FISH.]

[Toothless has long since learned (even if he hasn't entirely accepted it yet) that he can't eat the wild fish here... but ... BUT...!]

[So here, AJ. Have two GIANT GREEN EYES filling the screen.]

[Seeing a Magikarp flopping around is pretty much the best way to catch this dragon-turned-human's attention.]

Trust me, they're a better investment than you think. Just gotta know how to train 'em.
