[Applejack is standing under a tree, her gaze locked on a single red apple hanging from a branch. She grits her teeth. Dumb human body. If she was a pony, this wouldn't be any problem at all. But damnit, she was hungry. She had to try.]

Alright, Applejack. It's just like back home. Nice an' easy, no problem.

[She backs up a couple steps, before running at the tree. When she gets close, she brings up her leg, forcing it into the trunk of the tree with all her might. She stays there, for a moment, glaring at the trunk, which hasn't budged an inch. The adrenaline quickly wearing off, Applejack yelps, rolling off the tree and grabbing her ankle.]

Dang it! Dumb apple, why can't you just fall!?

[Suddenly, shifting in the branches! AJ's eyes quickly dart up, smiling in expectation. She closed her eyes, holding out her hands. Soon that delicious ruby would be in her hands, and she'll finally be able to--OOF!]

[Applejack's eyes widen as the much-larger-than-an-apple pokemon lands on her chest. The Pineco's eyes narrow, growling.]

Uh, hey there, sugarcube. Let's not get too hasty...

[The feed cuts with the sound of an explosion.]

That's true, self-destruct is one of the strongest attacks there is. Explosion is the strongest. But they're all or nothing. Your Pokemon faints and won't be doing any fighting after its used. So... just keep that in mind.

Somethin' to keep in mind. [She shuffles through her bag, eventually coming up with an empty ball.]

Their evolved form, Forretress, is pretty impressive defense wise. So you should be pretty okay with it.

[She wouldn't want one for herself, but it's all up to AJ what she catches.]

[Aaaand she tosses the ball.

...Missing the pokemon completely.]

Dangit. Come on, Applejack. How hard is it to use your hands right?

[Must... not... laugh.]

Well... at least it's not going anywhere?

[Okay. The second ball totally hits the Pineco.

And one shake.

Two shakes.

Three shakes.

Click! Pineco was caught!]

Annnnd there's your first catch! Congratulations, Applejack!

[She holds up a hand for a high-five.]

What are you going to call it?

[She returns the high five with enthusiasm. She caught a pokemon! And all it took was for it to blow up in her face! Hooray!]

Well... how 'bout "Tumble", like how it fell out of that tree?

[And now her hand stings. Jeez, she forgot how strong AJ is, even in human form. Trying to be unobtrusive about shaking the feeling back into it, she nods at the name.]

Sounds fine to me. Better than the first thing I thought of.

An' what was that, might I ask?

[Brb laughing at you.]

I told you it was bad.

[She's not all that perturbed by the laughter because, well, it is funny. Point of fact, she's laughing too.]

I ain't so sure she'd like that name.

Probably not, no. That's why I'm glad you thought of one.

...Y'don't think she'll try an' explode the moment I send her out of her ball, do you?

Well... a person I knew earlier who had a Pineco who did exactly that, come to think of it. So yes. Or at least possibly.

[She folds her arms in thought.] Which means we need to figure out a way to prevent that.

Hm... 'an how d'you think we can do that?

Well there are some Pokemon that prevent moves like that just by their presence, but I don't have any of them and neither do you. Rainbow and Fluttershy don't either. So that won't work.

Maybe if we keep it soaked?

I don't have any water types, though.

Well, I have one now, thanks to Rainbow. Snails!

[Pause. Twilight turns to look at her Pokemon. Pyrolepi, Robo, and Tesla stare back at her.]

... Oh by Celestia. Where did he go?

Now that you mention it, Bushel's gone too.

[I swear to Celestia if you're eating one of Twilight's pokemon...]

Well, Snails is probably where I just came from, so let's head back that way. Maybe they're together.

[Off they go, Tesla leading the way with its unintelligible beep. It's not much of a hike, so soon enough they come upon Snails, who is currently shooting his water gun.

In a desperate attempt to keep the lumbering Bushel away from him.]

Snails! [Alarmed for her gift from Rainbow, Twilight bursts into a run, her Pokes charging with her.]

Dangit, Bushel! Quit eatin' everything that moves!

[She pulls his pokeball from her belt, recalling the monster.]

[Upon being saved from the Slowpoke-eating monstrosity, Snails rushes over to Twilight about as fast as you'd expect a Slowpoke to.

Agonizingly slowly.

Twilight catches him up and lifts him, sighing in mingled relief and irritation.]

You need to pay more attention. If you'd followed me and the others, you'd have been fine.

[Snails responds with a blank stare.]
