[Applejack is standing under a tree, her gaze locked on a single red apple hanging from a branch. She grits her teeth. Dumb human body. If she was a pony, this wouldn't be any problem at all. But damnit, she was hungry. She had to try.]

Alright, Applejack. It's just like back home. Nice an' easy, no problem.

[She backs up a couple steps, before running at the tree. When she gets close, she brings up her leg, forcing it into the trunk of the tree with all her might. She stays there, for a moment, glaring at the trunk, which hasn't budged an inch. The adrenaline quickly wearing off, Applejack yelps, rolling off the tree and grabbing her ankle.]

Dang it! Dumb apple, why can't you just fall!?

[Suddenly, shifting in the branches! AJ's eyes quickly dart up, smiling in expectation. She closed her eyes, holding out her hands. Soon that delicious ruby would be in her hands, and she'll finally be able to--OOF!]

[Applejack's eyes widen as the much-larger-than-an-apple pokemon lands on her chest. The Pineco's eyes narrow, growling.]

Uh, hey there, sugarcube. Let's not get too hasty...

[The feed cuts with the sound of an explosion.]

Chika! (Daring holds up the apple between the two ponies curiously, using a Razor Leaf to split it in half.)

[Applejack grins, taking half.]

Did you get this down for me? That's right kind of ya. [She leans down, rubbing the top of Daring's head, just behind her leaf.]

(Daring appreciates the affection, Rainbow grinning while taking half as well.)

Yeah, Daring's a pretty awesome Grass type. Twilight gave her to me as a Hearth's Warming Eve present.

Well that was right kind of her. [She smiles at little Daring.]

Ha, yeah it was! I got her an egg, too; I think it was called...Slowpoke?

(While Rainbow took a few bites of the apple, Daring just stood and enjoyed the attention Applejack gave her.)

"Slowpoke", huh? Pretty funny, coming from you.

Yeah yeah, you can't see what's inside the eggs when you get 'em. And she wants one of every type.

Can't say I blame her. Every one of these pokey-mon I've seen has been real useful for something. Havin' one of every type means you're prepared for anythin'.

Yeah, but I just want the awesome ones like Daring and Blaze, and any other types that are just as awesome.

[Sigh.]

Too bad the only thing mine's good at is eatin'.

An' my jacket. It wasn't pretty. Thank goodness Twilight showed up when she did, or I'd be a ponysicle out there right now.

(Rainbow frowned lightly, pleased that Applejack didn't have to endure the harsh cold winds, but still - it hadn't even been a day, and Dash went nearly 2 weeks until she saw her friends again.)

...Sorry about that, Rainbow. I reckon Twilight wanted t'get me to Fluttershy as quick as she could.

I know, but you even got to fly over here! It's gonna be forever before I can find a flying Pokemon.

That ain't true. There's lots of flyin' pokemon around. Just most of 'em are hidin' from the cold! We just gotta go lookin' for 'em.

Yeah...! And Blaze can evolve into a flying type, tool maybe he'll grow big enough for me to ride him.

(Somepony's been looking at her PokeGear...)

That'd sure be neat. Just watch out for that tail of his.

Of course! Maybe I'll even let you ride him a few times.

I mean... if I have one. I don't really remember what my old team was like.

[She sighs in frustration.] But I reckon we'll find out when we get to Goldenrod.

I can't say for sure, but what I remember, it felt a lot like Manehattan.
